Hi guys,

My name is Aaron! My significant other and I have been heavily considering purchasing a 2007 beaver marquis, never thought we could afford a Newell but we came across model #682 from 2004 and was wondering if anyone here has any info on this?

I've seen two for sale ads and that's about it, looks like it sold for around $239k back in 2017. I see it was not a steerable tag axle and was a more rare 2 slide for its time.

Any info you guys could provide would be extremely helpful, I realize the Newell is built too a much higher standard than any Monaco/Beaver just don't want to be surprised by anything on this specific bus.

Thanks,
Aaron
Welcome to the group. I’ve only been around a few years and don’t have any particulars on this coach. Make sure you read through Discussion about what to consider on buying a used Newell section as there is a ton a great info in there.

It’s a well written ad. Needs tires asap and hopefully it has all service records/receipts. And while you won’t see many weigh in on price on here since it’s at a dealer I don’t mind saying based on the current crazy market it’s not out of line IF there is a well documented history, etc.
Aaron, I was able to find some history on coaches I was considering by searching this forum. There just might be some info here if a PO was a Guru.
Thanks guys, I've been actively in the forums the last week and yes I was able to find a previous for sale post from 2017 but that was about it.

Luckily a member had some background info he shared, hoping to be a newell owner before the end of the year!
Aaron,

Tell us about yourself, after all we have to interview you before you get the secret handshake and decoder ring.

Seriously, the more we know the better we can help you. For example have you owned a motor coach before, what is your intended use, what is your timeframe, describe your mechanical and electrical comfort, what do you expect to get with a 20 yr old Newell different from a 10 yr old Newmar different than a New Thor. Silly way of putting it, but you get the point.

I second the suggestion to pour over the section of already addressed topics on what to consider when buying a used Newell.

Hi Richard,

LOL thank you,  well myself and my significant other are travel Healthcare workers and thus far we have been city dwellers and enjoying our lives and usually camp every weekend while visiting various national and state parks!

We were getting ready to purchase our first 5th wheel when we noticed motorhomes have become much more affordable post pandemic and after seeing many different brands of both 5th wheels and motorhomes and doing research we see why the motorhomes are worth more with a much better build quality and typically better materials being used such as steel or aluminum framing vs wood, much more capable diesel motors, ect.

I do all my own repair work from our vehicles to at home stuff, I feel confident in using a volt meter to track down electric issues, I've rebuilt many inline 4 motors, recharge a/c systems of various styles. Both my father and grandfather are engineers so I am good at diagnosing issues even if the repair is beyond my skill.

Our intention with this motorhome is to use for a big trip from Utah to Texas/Florida area this fall about a month long and using it on weekends. Next spring we have a rv spot at a family members to park till may to do our first contract living in the rv and then we want to go do a few contracts in more remote areas of Idaho, Montana and possibly out east.

I like the idea of the Newell having larger fuel tanks/ water and waste tanks than the comparable beaver/monacos we are seeing,  I like the use of pneumatic bladders on the slides and front door, it seems many other owners like the way these machines were made in these vintage years as they were very easy to work on and diagnose issues while also having an easier time getting parts in many cases.

Thank you again for the warm welcome, if we purchase this motorhome we plan to come to a many group meets as our schedule allows!

One last thing the dealer made it clear he had no service records at all on the motorhome and advised me to call Newell and check with them. Can I just call the direct line in their website or should I call a service center?
You will fit right in! Call Newell directly.

Read the section on used Newells !!!!

If you can get an owner to go with you to look at it, you will be way ahead of the game.

Where is the Coach located?
Howdy Aaron! We are located 56 miles south of Newell in NW Arkansas, and if you buy a Newell and we are home don't hesitate to drop me a line and stop by for a visit, we have 50 amp and water. We've met some of the best people on earth on this forum and it's been a life savor for us in the restoration of our coach.

I want a decoder ring.
Jack you gotta go to one of the non-rally rallies to get your ring. Or go visit Tom.
Welcome Aaron!
Call Newell and connect to the service department. They are extremely busy so expect to leave a message. They need the last 3 digits of the the VIN to look up the coach. They have all the coach records and can give you some insights into the service history of the coach. Questions to ask…

1) Has the coach been serviced at Newell?
2) Has the coach been in for the skin rivet inspection?
3) Can they send a pdf of the coach plans? (They may or may not do this…but it can give you an idea of changes that have been made in the layout of the coach)
4) Do they “know” the coach and can they remember if anything major was done?

Some of the service files for a give coach could be hundreds of pages long so don’t expect an exhaustive list.

For what it’s worth.
