I've searched and can't find the weight of the 20kw generator, doe's anyone know how much it weighs?
While not necessarily exact, all the Powertech 20kw gensets are 1100# or less, the lightest being 927#. That should get you in the ball park. The Martin 20kw open frame unit is 975#.
Thanks articdude.
I can see the wheels turning……..

Replace the gen with LiPo, should be able to get at least 5000 amp hr in there.

Then add aux generator to coach engine to top off lithium if needed.

Next step add electric drive motors to tags with regen braking.
Now that's an interesting idea:-)
Haha! No but now I'm thinking. Smile Actually I was thinking about a smaller generator, nothing wrong with the one we have but if it broke at some time down the road we could get by with an 8kw easy and that would take a get deal of weight off the front axle.
Yeah, that taking weight off the front axle may or may not be a good thing relative to the coach handling.
That's enough for me to quit thinking I don't want to change a thing in handling.
You could always do 8k diesel and use batteries to match the rest of the weight. Keep in mind the additional weight of your regen tag,  gotta keep it balanced
Are you guys ganging up on me? Big Grin I am almost done with fixing or making things better till something else comes along. I got a feeling the boss is going to want to start with the cosmetic part.
