I stand corrected. Joe Roark was kind enough to let me stare at his setup this morning. Here is what I came away with. The electrically operated slide valve opens and closes to block off the dump plumbing from the grey water discharge. When that valve is closed, the electrically operated solenoid valve below it permits air to enter or evacuate the downstream plumbing and hose. That is how the automatically retracting and extending hose works. It is interesting that the hose actually is stored in a tunnel that penetrates the waste tank. Very clever.

So the diagram I drew does not apply in any way if you have the automatically deploying sewer hose.

Getting ready to use my grey water bypass for the first time this next trip and I'm attempting to figure out how to use it now vs. when we get there. Am I to understand that all I need to do is close the manual valve and then open the main air operated valve? Scared to just try it as I always assumed there there was grey/black waste up directly against that air valve all the time and I'd therefore have a mess with whatever grey/black was already that far. Hope that all made sense?

Edit: I couldn't wait and used garbage bag for the just in case i was wrong. Looks like all I need to do is close manual valve and then open air valve and all is well with the world and grey flows. Man this is going to make boondocking SO MUCH BETTER in that we have access to fresh water to refill tank so no more Navy showers on the next trip.

The grey water bypass is not installed in 1482. I have thought about adding it, perhaps I'll have enough time this winter. I've been able to drain grey water in every other camper I have owned. I think there are separate drains into the tank for galley sink, shower and bath sinks. Just dumping the shower and galley would be a huge improvement.
