Praying for you Richard and Rhonda.

RE: East Coast 2025 No Rally Rally RELOCATION - Wanderman - 05-04-2025

Hope all is getting better for Richard and Rhonda!

Is anyone coming from the East of Townsend? Their website lists some very specific directions to avoid NON Big Rig friendly roads.

I-40 West from Asheville, NC or Bristol, TN

Exit #398 Strawberry Plains Pike – LEFT
3 Miles Left at light onto Gov. John Sevier (#168)
12 Miles Left onto Alcoa Hwy (#129)
Pass Knoxville Airport bear to left
Dead ends into US #321 North 18 miles to Townsend
Left in Townsend at only traffic light on to US #321 or Wears Valley Road
Immediate left of bridge onto Cedar Creek Rd.
Campground 200′ on Right

Anyone have any experience with these roads?
Pretty much all the Truck and Big RV routing software/systems are showing varying routes.

In other news... Who is actually going Smile

I plan to be there, we are arriving the 11th and staying the week.

I am coming from the south, so plan to take I-75 and get off on 321, and just take 321 all the way in. I have driven on 321 several years ago, its not a bad road at all if I remember correctly. I have probably been on a couple of those roads, I know I have been on the Alcoa hwy before, it can be a bit busy depending on when it is.

Follow the instructions from the RV Park. That is the most big rig friendly way to get to the park.

Under NO circumstances try to cut across from Pigeon Forge to the campground on Wears Valley Road.

Gordon et al and I are here. Vinnie and Jack are headed in. I came in from LA on 75 N to Lenoir TN & came in on 321, easy run about 35 miles going east on 321. WAZE tried to direct me to I 40 but I avoided the Knoxville traffic .

Glad to hear that some of y’all have landed. We will be there Sunday, look forward to meeting other Newell owners!

Post some pics when you can. You know we would be there if we could.

Here are some pictures not mine but some great shots.

A rainy day brought us all together for conversation.  The bar was open for those thirsty.

Pitch in dinner.  Jack cooked a pork butt in his green egg for 9 hours and then shredded it.  Delicious!!  The sides were 5 star dishes, nothing really fancy but soooo good.  Valerie made banana pudding that was out of this world.  Vinnies’s work associate (Brittney) sent some of her baked goods, also out of this world.

It makes me happy to see that the camaraderie of this groups continues to transcend owning a specific chunk of metal. Thanks for the pics!
