Auto drain on the Valid Air Comp system - Dhead - 09-07-2022

Does anyone know the ins and outs of the water separator? I have the SMC AFM30-N02BC-Z water separator. It has a gray plastic 'switch' at edge of the top, and I drain it manually when it gets close to half full. Mine never had a 3/8 hard line on the bottom of the drain. I added one to drain properly, and now its a lot harder to loosen it up.
I did see on a different model that the interior 'sponge' would "lift up" which provided an alternate drain path - does this one work that same?
And finally, does anyone have the instructions for it?
