Newfoundland 2025 -
Fundays - 04-06-2025
We are heading back to Newfoundland this summer because we fell in love with it last summer. The people are the nicest we have ever encountered and the boondocking accommodations along the shores and cliffs are remarkable. Where else are you welcomed and encouraged to stay for free in the most beautiful spots on the island? Most spots include trashcans and picnic tables. If anyone is in the area we would love to meet up! We travel with 2 Bernese Mountain Dogs, Wynnie and Lola, and they love the hikes, cool air, and fresh seafood of Newfoundland. This will be our first summer adventure with Mickey, our new to us coach.

Bill,
Thanks for posting. I copied and pasted your post to an email to my sister. She has planned a trip for us up there for the summer of 2026.
I wonder if our path will cross your path from this summer.
About 3 years ago when I was talking with my sister and BIL about trips they had planned. I mentioned Nova Scotia was on my radar. I want to see the Bay of Fundy tidal swing. But I couldn't go until I retired.
Well, about 7-8 weeks after she called me and said she had that trip almost all planned out. It will be done soon and ready for when I retire! I was speechless for a few moments.
She's also planned an Alaska trip for 2028 for us.
Maybe her road name will change from "Minolta Mom" to "Triple A"

Hank,
Sounds like you have a great sister! Fun times for sure. The Canadian Maritimes are just bursting with beauty and great seafood and people around every bend.
Alaska is on our plans for next summer. Our daughter lives in Soldotna in the summer and fairbanks the rest of the year. If you go, feel free to reach out and I can give you her contact info. She can give you some inside information on places to go. She is a scientist who studies salmon.
If your sister has any travel plan sketched out I'd love to see them. Trying to peice our trip together, but I need to get fall in New England and the winter in Arizona/New Mexico figured out first. We just purchased our coach from Richard in January and I am retiring in June, so we are gearing up for multiple trips. We have spent the last 15 summers exploring the US and Canada, but we are really looking forward to not having time constraints and being free.
We welcome anyone's trip ideas. It is always great to hear others experiences.
Safe travels!

Thanks Richard. We are heading to WV later this month for a week, but Newfoundland will be our first real trip. We love Mickey and thank you and Rhonda every day! She is a true gem!

As a gentle reminder to folks traveling with animals- have shot records for them. We actually ran into a park in Trenton, ME that wanted shot records for our dogs. In that 3500 mile trip, they were the only ones that wanted those records. They are also the first park in 17 years of rving that wanted those records.
We didn’t have them, so we were told to keep our animals within the physical camp space we had.

Good reminder! We always ask for 2 extra signed copies of vaccination records when we are at the vet. We put them in the glove compartment of the Jeep and also in the coach. We have needed them at the border and some parks. We also download our dogs medical files which have helped when we needed to visit a vet while traveling in Canada. Better to be safe than sorry. One additional thing we are carrying this year is paper scripts for all our dogs meds and specialty food. One of our berner has kidney disease and needs meds and specialty foods daily and labs ran each month. It makes it easier if we have extra scrips with us for when we need something.
