Transmission Cooler Fans - [email protected] - 05-23-2025

So recently I have noticed my transmission temps rising. Now it may also be that ambient temps are rising and this is just a direct result of the ambient temps here in Fl going up. So my transmission temps as read on my Bluefire have been going up in the 200s up to 220 deg F. Is this what others are seeing on their HD4060s when in the heat? I am just wondering if my transmission cooler is working. So I believe my coach has a cooler mounted just forward of the drive axle with 2 electric fans on it. I am wondering if those fans are working and what temp they come on? Not sure if you would be able to hear them running with the engine running. I would assume there may be a relay in the engine electrical box that turns the fans on, I have not really looked yet. Any data or info any one has would be helpful.

Jeff, 210 to 220 is normal especially with you pulling the he trailer.

The fans and cooler you reference are NOT the trans cooler. They are for the hydraulic system. The trans cooler is on the aft tank of the radiator.

Thanks Richard!

Not to take too far of a side trip from the transmission, so is the kysor looking sensor on the hydraulic tank controlling the hydraulic fans?

That is a very good question. I don’t know. The 95 I owned, the hyd fans came on any time the key was on. The 99, I never heard them come on.
