Fan Replacement Outback VFX2812 Inverter - Replaced -

Outback VFX2812 Fan quit, discovered when inverter overheated and shut down microwave, refrigerator etc.. It worked once it cooled down so I put a 120VAC fan in the compartment blowing on the inverter while waiting for parts. Ordered new "Outback FX/GS Fan Kit" from Inverter Service Center, White House, TN. which arrived in two days. Installation was relatively simple, all power off, remove the inverter and work on the pickup truck tailgate. Once the case was opened I discovered that the ribbon cable was crushed by the case by the last person that closed it up. Ribbon cable ohms checked OK so I straightened it & reused it. Replacing the fan was easy with the instructions from Outback.
The instructions say to use three 9 volt batteries in series to test the inverter before reinstallation. The inverter failed to put out 120 VAC so I took it apart again, inspected and put it back together with the same results. I finally gave up testing it and reinstalled it in the coach where it checked OK. That cost me another hour or two of what should have been a one or two hour job. The second inverter fan is slightly noisy so I have a spare for it.
