Newbie and need some help - cyclefamily1960 - 05-13-2026

I can't turn the stearing wheel when setting still, it requires some movment in forward or reverse to turn. This makes for a lot of moving slightly foreward and backwards when in a tight spot.
Is this normal?

Is it ok to replace all my marker, tail, brake, and turn lights with LEDs or is there something in the electronic system that would provent that?

Given our rig's weight, surface, and tire contact patch, turning the 365's can be not only stiff if not moving, but in some cases against doing it... if avoidable.
That said, there ARE occasions that where pump/valving gets stuck on our rig, and I equate it more with the ComfortSteer system and it will correct itself with slight movement or restart.

In terms of LED replacements, easily done and fully compatible. Some of the prices may give you a bit of sticker-shock...but I chose quality over cheap-china ones. Newell had most of them as OEM replacements so our coach's lightings looks the same as on new rigs.

On 712 with 315's on the front it is very very difficult to turn the steering wheel when not moving on pavement. Even with led flasher 712s direction signals would not work with out incandescent bulb in rear , Newell said they would just put a resistor in.

We had the same issue on 1241.  It ended up needing a replacement hydraulic pump (and splined gear adapter on a Cat C15).  One quick way to see if the hydraulic pump is performing as it should at idle is to unplug the electrical connector going to the hydraulic divider block that splits hydraulic fluid between the radiator fan and the power steering with the engine running.  When disconnected the two stage radiator fan should go to hi and noticeably increase in speed.  Totally different coach to drive when it steers and cools as designed.

THat is what I was sondering. I had to put a resistor in line when I installed LEDs in my 2015 Can Cam Spyder also. Good to know. Thanks!

Dear Doug, We've found Super Bright LEDs to be a good source of LED lights. They generally offer lifetime warranties and quick shipping.

They should have an LED specific flasher relay to fit your unit. Our 1991 (#277) did require a little rewiring for the flasher, but zero problems since. If you get the LED flasher, resistors should not be required to make the flashing rate reasonable. If you do require resistors, Super Bright has those as well.
