Interior Panel Back Lighting
#1

Gurus
Has anyone worked on and fixed the panel back lighting next to the bed and various switching panel?  Seems like there is a power supply, Illuminator and the actual ribbon wire lights.  What seems to be to most fail prone component to start with?

Thank you in advance for the help!

Power supply. I think I have one if you want to start there.

I have the same issue with the lighting by the bed too. I haven't started looking at that issue yet. There are a few things higher on the to-do list.

Same thing happened to me.

I replaced the power supply and it worked for a year then started whistling again. I tried to throw a bunch of LED tape in there….but it was weird and the LED wireless controller would sometimes just decide to go full bright in the middle of the night. Finally removed the LED and left no illumination.

But….and its a very expensive but…..

Newell has a new technology that involves removing the old panel and all the switches and such….they glue on a new type of technology (an entire light up panel) instead of the tape. They did this for my galley panel. It’s very, very pretty. But also $$$

Look up Electroluminescent Panels. There are some interesting products out there now.

I would try Richard's power supply. Other than that, I used a small flashlight next to the panel.

Thanks for the input and offer to use your power supply Richard. Given Bill's experience I am leaning toward Hank's situation....I have bigger fish to fry at the moment. Had a fleeting though I might be able to take care of some low hanging fruit!

You can buy 12v dimmable LED strip lights now. They don't require a special power supply, and dimmer switches can be found in multiple configurations. https://smile.amazon.com/s?k=12v+dimmer+...-doa-p_1_6
