AGM LIFELINE 6V BATTERIES
#1

Anyone have any history or knowledge of how the AGM LIFELINE 6V batteries will work in an 06 newell as opposed to agm lifeline 12v.  Thank you in advance!  Mike

Why does someone want to use 6V batteries on a 12V vehicle?
Theoretically, you can make it work by combining 2x 6V batteries to make one 12V, and then you have to deal with the wiring and modification of the battery trays.
I believe battery trays on all Newell coaches are designed to take 8D-sized batteries. And the size of two 6V batteries seems larger than one 8D battery.

Lifeline 6V:    261mm L x 181 mm W x 260 mm H (10.27 X 7.12 X 10.24)
Standard 8D 12V:  527mm L x 280 mm W x 254 mm H (21″x11″x10″)

IMHO, the reason most folks use 6 volt golf car batteries on other brand campers is that they are deep cycle whereas most 12 volt batteries are marine starting/deep cycle and not a true deep cycle. Lifeline and other brands such as Crown make 12 volt deep cycle batteries which negate the need to use 6 volt batteries. Those brands are not found at the big box stores and are more expensive.

I see there are many 12V 8D sized deep cycle batteries available, some of their prices only slightly higher than the regular Lead-acid flooded batteries. For example

$285, https://www.battsys.com/centennial-marin...p-group-8d

$395, https://www.powerstridebattery.com/8d-de...tride-8ddc

Lithium Ion probably works better for longer lifespan.

I was just curious, because a couple of my friends have the lifeline agm 6v in their newer Newmar King Aires.  Thank you for responding!  Regards, Mike
