In our 2006 Newell the audio and video systems are a bit outdated, I was wondering what others have done to update things since the wiring and connections look like a complete nightmare. We want to install our Starlink which isn’t an issue except it won’t connect to the tv’s. I can put in a fire stick with a composite to hdmi converter but that just seems like I’m putting a small bandage on a bigger issue. Any ideas or update help would be appreciated.

Hello all,

Retired a few years now and considering a quality "vintage" coach (late 1970's-early 1990's most likely) for regular short-distance trips (under 500 miles) and perhaps in the next few years a cross-country journey. The most important considerations for me are:

1. Build quality of the coach. I've been considering Newell, Wanderlodge, Prevost and peeking at MCI and Silver Eagles. I'd like to avoid fiberglass entirely.

2. Durability and reliability. I know for any vintage coach, issues occur and repairs can be costly. I do have decent mechanical skills working on automobiles and pickup trucks and would enjoy handling routine maintenance DIY like oil and filter changes, belt changes and such (I like to keep an eye on things). So good access to the engine, generator, radiator, chassis and other major components would be helpful. While I like the Wanderlodge FC, the engine location is less than ideal, particularly if the radiator hasn't been converted to swing out.

3. Usability and drivability. Most state parks in our state and neighboring states have a 40' limit so I would ideally like to keep it at 35' to 40'. I'd like an engine powerful enough to run 70mph on an interstate and maintain a decent speed on inclines. I prefer a diesel pusher with a tag axle. I do not want slides.

I'm also interested in a coach in good condition with records of regular maintenance. I'm not interested in a gutted or "project" coach nor one with a sketchy history of deferred maintenance and repairs.

I've read on a post here about the construction of the vintage Newells but am unclear on how the aluminum body is actually built and how it compares to an all-steel coach like the vintage Wanderlodges. I also know that Newell, Prevost (and some converters) and MCI are still in business and building coaches but Wanderlodge and Eagle are both out-of-business.

Any and all advice is appreciated! Thanks all!

So, glad to be here and hope to belong here soon. I'd like to find a low mile 2007 - 2012 coach. If you know of anyone that might be in the "thinking about it" stages, please comment. I am a cash buyer and am ready to make it happen if I can find the right Coach !

Hello everyone my name is Jeff. Thanks for allowing me to participate in your Forum. I have had class A RV's for over 20 years and have always wanted to own a Newell.

So, glad to be here and hope to belong here soon. I'd like to find a low mile 2007 - 2012 coach. If you know of anyone that might be in the "thinking about it" stages, please comment. I am a cash buyer and am ready to make it happen if I can find the right Coach !

Thanks, Jeff

Howdy all! Longtime lurker, newly registered first-time poster here. I’ve been a full time RVer since 2020 and, like many, have found the quality and construction of new RVs lacking. I’ve owned class C, B, 5-ers and bumper pulls. None ever felt like “my last” RV… thin walls, minimal construction and generally cheap.

I’m at the beginning of my search for a classic Newell coach. I’m here to learn and absorb everything I can. Looking forward to the journey!

Hello,
I'm hoping to be Newell owner in the near future. In search of a P2000i era coach preferably with a C15,ZF,Mid Entry,Murphy bed,Multiplex controls. Hoping to learn as much as possible to make educated judgements as we search to find our new to us coach. Our current coach is a NRC conversion on a Freightliner Argosy truck chassis. It was built on a new truck in 2005 and currently has just over 50k miles on it, just barely broken in. It has served us well but we are hoping to upgrade to something with better craftsmanship but can still pull our 28' stacker (21k GVW).

Thanks,

Howdy, tired of taking a beating from shops that say “they can fix it” only to get it back with more wrong then when I dropped it off. I love working on the coach but having trouble finding anyone that can help with the older ones. Looking through here I might be headed in the right direction. Right now I’m having issues with my air bags and cruise control. The air bags will not stay aired up when the engine is off and no luck finding anyone that knows anything about the cruise control. [attachment=13147]

Hi all,

I'm looking for a very specific Newell coach: a 1996 38' Newell sold at one point in Zanesville OH. I'd like to discuss purchasing it from whomever currently owns it. A picture is attached to this post.

Alternatively, If anyone knows of another Newell less than 40' in length with a Detroit Series 60 engine, please let me know!

Currently own a 45' Prevost H345, and looking to downsize.

Thank you!
