When i bought my coach the previous owner did not have the fancy elbow for the sewer connection. I looked everywhere for a reasonable replacement. I did not like the "cup" idea. So I went to the store and bought a fitting saver reamer. Looking everything over i removed the panel that holds the city water pressure regulator. Since I had just rebuilt that on Saturday it wasn't hard to pop the rivets off to make room for a drill. Proceeded to ream out the old style fitting about 1 inch deep. I wanted to use it as a union to glue in a new fitting. Dry fit everything and realized I would have to trim the new fitting about 3/4 inch so it would clear with an elbow attached. Got everything test fit pulled apart cleaned up and glued together. No more searching for connectors. I'm now able to buy hoses that readily attach and seem mostly universal anywhere. As far as I'm thinking... problem solved.

The initial part of the plumbing system is the water inlet and associated hose reel. My Glendenning reel stopped working and I have been trying to figure the source of the problem. The circuit breaker on the switch was inoperative, impossible to reset, so I began to take the switch apart. Long story short, I found that the hot side wasn’t hot, so there should be a fuse somewhere. The manual calls for a 10 amp fuse in line on the hot side in spite of the circuit breaker being identified as 4 amps. Anyway I have searched high and low on my fuse panels and can’t find the location of the associated fuse. I did find an unlabeled 7.5 amp fuse that had blown and replaced that but still no joy. Called Newell and they weren’t able to help either. I will try them again on Monday.

Does anyone have any idea where the fuse for the hose reel might be located? And also but less important, does anyone have any idea what circuit might require the 7.5 amp fuse?

Any input appreciated!

Our older #277 has a Dometic DN1070 ice maker that began leaking under the cabinets. The cause of the water leak was an over heated plastic water line.

The reason for this post and other owners to watch is the condition of the ice maker coils. This unit pulls in air on the left side of the grill and the hot air exhausts on the right side.

The problem was the coils were COMPLETELY clogged!! They didn't appear to have been cleaned since the coach was built in 1991. There was no filter and you have to lay on the floor to be able to see the coils after you remove the small grill.

After removing unit, cleaning of the fins and a new water line, it works well.

Even if you don't have this particular unit, ensure your ice maker's coils are cleaned or filtered!

Good luck and miles,

Okay, I want to make sure I’ve got to his straight. I’ll include two pictures to ensure I’m on the right track. It’s part of my effort to winterize the coach. I’ve already run antifreeze throughout the system.

Picture #1- I’ve labeled the two sources that can flow to the sewer system (or ground).
Picture #2 - The Main Dump Valve (usually air activated).

Dumping the waste holding tank utilizing left side plumbing bay:

Remove coach sewer pipe cap, attach sewer hose (slinky) to the connector next to the Main Dump Valve.

Manually open the waste tank valve (in pic #1 the valve appears to already be open).

Activate Main Dump Valve to drain waste holding tank.

To rinse tank hook water hose to tank flush spicket in aft area of Aqua-Hot bay. Rinse until solids have moved through sewer pipe.

Allow tank to thoroughly drain before closing valves.

Run RV Antifreeze in sinks to allow antifreeze to enter holding tank via grey water pipe system. Flush toilets to allow antifreeze to enter waste area of holding tank.

If I understand the system this will also winterize the holding tank.

Thanks, JK

Picture #1- I’ve labeled the two sources that can flow to the sewer system (or ground).

Our 1991 # 277 coach has three Thetford part # 08671 drain valves installed. The curb side bus dump is leaking. Are the valves (two are on the driver's side) glued in place, or just siliconed in? I'm trying to determine how to remove and rebuild while causing the least damage to the piping. Removing the valves appears to be the most difficult part of the repair. Thanks!

So I cleaned out my hot water tank and replaced the anode and heating element.
Was nothing on the anode, plenty of stuff on the bottom which I vacuumed out.
Went to take a shower that night and hot water side is barley coming more like a dribble.

The other faucets in the coach are fine .

Are there not tubes sticking in the tank from the top?
wonder where the plug could be and how best to fix it.
Shot compressed air back through the shower fixture with the knob in the hot position, had the hot side of the bath faucet on as well to let out any pressure so as not to blow the tank. Did not work.
Tried some vinegar down the shower hose and let it set overnight but valve was not open so maybe need to have valve open but would have to have no water pressure and it may get into the hot water tank. ????

Any plumbers out there?
