Good morning everyone - we are experiencing 120V compressor issues. Last night we arrived in St Augustine, FL and I noticed the supply pressure was down to 60lbs and the compressor was not running. Checked and it was very hot, like it had gone into thermal overload. So I left it off until this morning. Turned it on, pressure charged from zero to 105 and then stopped as it should. When pressure dropped to 70 I thought "it should be on by now ..." went out and checked it and it was hot and felt like it was buzzing, like the start capacitor had failed or the compressor has seized. It is the Thomas compressor with the Spartan Scientific (Viton) pressure switch/regulator.

I like Richard's idea of replacing the Viton switch/regulator and will likely do this when I get the coach back home. However, in the meantime we would like to continue our road trip. I see some people have suggested replacing the Thomas with a small all-in-one unit from Harbor Freight - is this something that could be a full time replacement? it looks a little light duty for the coach, but it's self contained, only needs a 120V feed, and it's inexpensive.

Is there any issue running the coach without the 120V compressor? As I understand it's major function is to keep the coach level when the engine is not running - the 12V compressor can handle the doors and potties when parked overnight (have to work on finding level spots!)
I know that I have many things to learn, and have found this fourm a great tool.
My two 120 V compressors have a toggle switch to change from one to the other and it performed as expected a month ago when I picked up the rig.
Now if the switch is to the left the right unit runs and if it is to the right both units run. I have not opened the box yet, but thought any advice before I move in with screw driver in hand would be helpful.
I have owned many motor homes, but never one like this.

Does anyone know the ins and outs of the water separator? I have the SMC AFM30-N02BC-Z water separator. It has a gray plastic 'switch' at edge of the top, and I drain it manually when it gets close to half full. Mine never had a 3/8 hard line on the bottom of the drain. I added one to drain properly, and now its a lot harder to loosen it up.
I did see on a different model that the interior 'sponge' would "lift up" which provided an alternate drain path - does this one work that same?
And finally, does anyone have the instructions for it?

The cold air in Florida this month has created serious air leaks for our 2009 Newell. I'm a novice here, and can't take the coach anywhere for the next six weeks or more as we are living in it as the renovation continues on the house. I'm looking up u-tube videos to start learning...
The 110 compressor was down to running every 15 minutes for 5 minutes, then the 110 compressor solenoid started purging continuously again. I have a leak at the inbound Valid slide manifold in the electronics bay. I've shut off the 110 compressors, took the door to 'manual' and using the engine air when we need air pressure for the toilet.
1. Trying to find the R1 tank so I can drain it - is it actually in the bay, because I sure can't find it.
2. Where can I locally source parts, or should I go to the internet.
3. What tools do I need?

I've included pictures of the Valid slide manifold

I've discovered that my ISRI seat needs to have the air lines replumbed. Someone had kinked off the supply line because they were unable to solve an air leak problem in the seat and although the majority of the controls, up, down, forward, backward, back tilt are electric it would be nice to have the air controlled portion of the seat, lumbar and flank support functional. I've attempted to contact ISRI to obtain repair parts or diagrams but was told due to the age of the seat they no longer support it.
Does anyone have a diagram of the ISRI seat air supply for seats around the 2007 vintage?
Thanks

Hello, Friends.

Before I purchased Coach #416, the Thomas 120VAC Air Compressor was replaced by a previous owner with a Lowe’s Kobalt brand air-compressor. It made all kinds of racket like you would expect it to when it ran. I removed it and have regretted it since as I did not have a replacement on hand. I do not know what model Thomas was in there originally and how it was plumbed or wired next to the 20kW Kohler Generator.

The 120V Air Compressor is used to level the coach using the air bags controlled with the HWH Computerized Leveling Controller. The main engine-driven air compressor does the duties of filling the air bags when rolling down the road.

I would appreciate information provided from anyone who replaced their 120VAC air compressor with the Thomas or an equal or better compressor. Photos of their current or new air compressor arrangement showing plumbing & wiring would be fabulous.

Question: If boondocking, would not a 12VDC air compressor be preferred to a 120VAC air compressor to keep the coach level when parked?
