As i get closer to selling my house and leaving Alaska I'm trying to build a tool kit for any unexpected emergency. I've got some basic hand tools and scanners, laptops and code readers. This however is an amazing addition to self reliance. I've got spare wheel and tire but if i was to get a flat in the middle of nowhere i can now be fixed ad rolling again in 30 minutes. Kit comes with 4 batteries, charger for 2 at a time and the big impact. All without the need for massive amounts of air pressure. It will provide me with much needed peace of mind knowing i wont have to call for tire service that could be 3-7 hours away.

i am looking for a good way to hex crimp ferrules on 4 and 2 gauge wire. you can buy hex crimpers down to 5 gauge on ebay, but having spent some time looking have not come up with anything for larger wires. i have 2 and 4 gauge ferrules...

i have not yet tried one of my 2 hydraulic cable crimpers but i suspect it will destroy the thin metal ferrule

anyone have any ideas?

thanks

My coach came with two large pullout box style trays. I removed and cut them down to tray size. The exposed plywood edges were covered in aluminum trim. I am very happy with this conversion since the totes fit better allowing their top edges to overhang. I can fit the totes nicely in the tray whereas they did not fit together in the box. While at it, I installed a new Tool box which is bolted down. To finish this project off I installed battery and tool holders for some of my Milwaukee tools that will reside with the bus. The magnetically mounted power strip glides with the tray with the charger plugged in.

I have found some catalogs that over the years are very informative resources for exposing me to either “that’s how they do that” or “oh, that’s a part I didn’t know existed”. I find that reading some of the catalogs is extremely educational when it comes to techie stuff. Now, I am not dissing YouTube or internet search engines, but there is something about old school in print that I retain better. Most of these catalogs stay in the “library”. You may have to pay a bit for one or two, but here is my list of go to reference materials. I am sure you have yours, and I would love to hear of them. I may just use the catalog to learn the name of what I am looking for, and then utilize a search engine. Or in the case of McMaster, pay the premium price for a quality part and quick reliable shipping.

We bought this to check the contacts on my lithium batteries in our house, the contracts between each battery it is very important to have a good connection and if not they will heat up. It is an amazing tool for the price, these cameras a few years back were $5000-$6000 dollars and only look and drool over but technology has really improved and you can own one of these for $300 on ebay, you'll have to wait a month to get it unless you want to pay extra to have one quickly then Amazon is your answer.
I actually got the camera the day I was troubleshooting my aquahot and been messing around with it for a bit, it will see through walls and yes it will see though the plywood in our coaches, you can see the aluminum and steel tubing in the walls under the plywood, with another person to run their finger over the wall you can pin point electrical wires to avoid and studs to screw to. The electrical and plumbing use is unbelievable, you can see under my sink where I just had the hot water running and the path it took through the lines to the drain. You can see the main breaker for the aquahot is drawing more current on one leg than the other. I just took a couple shots in our house and the coach and thought this a good tool to have. I watched reviews on this camera from the pro's and they say is best on the market for the money. Oh and for you gear heads, imagine finding which cylinder is not firing or an injector plugging up by looking at the exhaust port on each cylinder, if its cold its ignition or injector or if it hotter than the rest its lean.

i cant sit on the floor as easily as i used to or squat after my knee replacement. so i started looking for high quality shop chairs that roll.

i came across the vyper chair.

they are industrial grade and you can pick the colors and features you want. i bought a red and blue one.

if you have a smooth shop or garage floor and want to scoot around easily to work on things, these are the ticket. i bought a tool tray for one of them. and they are adjustable in height. and have a very high weight capacity for the max version i bought with 5 legs and wheels.

they are not cheap, but in this case you get what you pay for.

https://www.vyperindustrial.com/

the pictures are in my shop and are my actual 2 chairs. the newell is on the other side of the shop
