I am a first time RV and Newell owner that has jumped in head first with my purchase of a 1995 Newell coach #390.
I am very fortunate to have bought a well sorted coach like this for my first adventure.

I own an auto hauling trucking business and will be full-timing in the coach when I'm not on the road.
I am very happy with this beautiful coach and thankful to this group for the wealth of knowledge.

Good Day All!
My name is Brian and I are looking to upgrade to a Newell sometime in the future. We started with backpacks years ago, then graduated to popups, then travel trailers, a class C, and now we have a 2007 Winnebago Tour 40KD. We live in Virginia and I consider myself mechanically capable for most things I have encountered on the Winnebago. We have come to love the motorcoach lifestyle, and I am getting the itch to upgrade yet again to a Newell. My wife is dealing with some significant medical issues, and the flexibility that the motorhome offers allows us to travel in both comfort and convenience.
I have been lurking on this site for several weeks now and am impressed with both the collective knowledge and the effort to share your experiences with these machines. I will thank you in advance for the information, as it has already helped in refining what we are looking for (98-2006 years), and inspection tips.
I am retired military and we travel around visiting family and friends. We also belong to a military RV group that hosts rallies all over the US (Special Military Active Recreational Traveler, AKA SMART). Their national rally is in Elkhart Indiana in August. I hope to meet some of you on the road in 2026 and beyond!
this site is awesome ans a wealth of help.
I picked it up last week in FL and drove it to MI. We had a couple of thigs happen on the way that I am in the proccess of taking care of, but that is to be expected.

Both the wipers stopped working on the way when we had some huge wind gust that lifted then about 4 inches off the windshield and stopped them from moving. If anyone has info on checking and or replacing the wiper motors, that would be helpfull.

A waterline under or behind the fridge started leaking. I will take the drawers out, the bottom panel off and see if I can find the leak.

One of the former owners took out the thomas air compressors and replaced it with one cheap Campbell Hausfield. He has the pressure regulater on the compressor at 40PSI and I am not it sure what that should be set at.

Thanks much guys.

My name is Jeff Houpe from Gravette AR. Short story long. I lost my home in a fire a week ago. Total loss. Roof over my head, cars, guns, motorcycles, everything. Has been pretty devastating. But God is good and nobody was hurt.

My “snow bird” parents started heading home in their Prevost from FL when this happened. I went to visit with them a couple hours ago where the most amazing thing to ever happen, happened. They gifted me their beloved Newell. #504 Magnolia. Needless to say, I’m the proud owner of Newell (pipe dream until now). And, the best part, I have a roof over my head again. Looking forward to this forum. I heard it’s a wealth of knowledge. Fortunately for me, I call my wealth of knowledge, Dad.

Hello all!

Very happy I managed to find this forum. My name is Rick. I am in my mid-30's, eat sleep and breathe anything automotive related, collect Vertu cell phones, and am an old-soul.

I grew up junior drag racing in Southern California in the 90s and early 2000s. My parents had a 1996 40 or 42 foot non-slide Newell that we used to travel around to the races.

I am a little tired of the overall decline in Colorado, so it is time to find somewhere a little more sensible. I am planning on traveling various parts of the US and living out of the coach full time. I was initially looking at the Luxe Regent, as it was advertised as a four-season fifth-wheel; however, I think that a Newell or Prevost would probably be a better option. I am looking for a fairly trouble-free experience. And from the sounds of things, fifth-wheels in general are are known for needing maintenance and having problems. I also am of the impression that a Newell will feel like a real home on wheels. At least that's [pretty much] how I remember our old Newell! I think we put about 100-150k miles on it over 15 years.

I would like to keep the coach price in the $300-600k range, but I am flexible. I am more concerned with finding the "right one" more so than the price as long as it's within reason. I am also not opposed to sending it back to Newell to have things modified to my tastes/preferences. I realize that each unit was custom ordered and specced, but I am fairly easy when it comes to paint/floor/upholstery colours.

I have been watching a lot of youtube videos from Andrew Steele, but I still have a lot to learn...and a million questions. Looking to purchase one in the late fall or over the next winter.

Looking forward to getting to know some of you folks!
I’ve read the suggested posts on this subject but still haven’t read other owner’s explanations to justify the significant annual costs if they’re built so well with redundancy and craftmanship etc.? Yes, they’re complex machines but even lower quality competitors don’t seem to require this much expense. Apologies in advance for my ignorance but I would really like to know and justify a purchase. I like to study, learn and fix things but don’t want to spend money unwisely. Dtravis, thank you!

I like to study, learn and fix things but don’t want to spend money unwisely. Dtravis, thank you!

I am new to Newell motorhomes, I am thinking of buying one and have sold our Newmar. I have 100k to purchase with, my question to all is I am looking at 1990 to 1999 models or newer if I can afford it. What do I look for, what issues should I know about? Your knowledge would greatly aid me in buying a great unit. The wife and I want to travel more but not go broke keeping the Newell alive. Our Newmar was great to us, but I have always loved the Newell line of RV's style and ride.
Any information you have please share.

Newell friends,

I’m Lauren (43) and my husband is Howard (56) we are full-time in our 2008 45’ Newell Coach #1234 with our two terriers, Luna and Starz! Many of you know this coach from the previous, previous owner Ben “Nebster”, that installed roof-top solar and extensive battery system back in 2018ish. We starting RVing back in 2015 and have had serval RVs since then, Winnebago, airstream, sprinter van and a storyteller GXV Hilt. My husband has some health issues that we are working through and we weren’t ready to give up the RV lifestyle so we went with a pre-DEF Newell for comfortability and quality craftsmanship. Hope to see some of you guys down the road, although we will be in the Dallas / Fort Worth area for an extended period of time in 2026 since I just lost my father and health reasons. We’ve learned a lot so far and look forward to learning even more from the group. I’m sure we will have lots of questions!

Cheers,

Hello everyone I own a 1969 25' Newell with 80,000 miles that is un-molested and looks like it came from the factory. I am the second owner. The interior is a Time Machine, CB radio, small TV, oven never even used or fridge. Carpets, seats, vinyl soft as the day they were put in it.
The exterior we have had removed all the lights and powder coated the bumpers, polished her up and are updating the painted areas. The only thing original I don't have is the generator, which Newell said they actually have. We are going thru the engine to freshen it up. Just wondering if anyone else has on this old? One of the old timers at Newell told me it was the 17th one of 22 made in '69 according to the data plate info I gave him. It used to live not far from Newell HQ in OK. Its here in Memphis now at my business.
I've also been asked "do you know what you have" several times by people in the industry that have came over to see her. I just think she's cool! kinda looks like Willie Nelson would roll out of her in a ball of smoke lol.
