To change it out, I just shut off all power in the coach (including shore power and batteries). Then I removed the four mounting screws and took the keypad off the wall. I swapped the wire connector from the back of the old unit to the new one and screwed it back to the wall. The mounting screw holes lined up!! After powering up the coach again, it woke up when touched and just worked like it was always there.
I'm so happy to have the second slide control station operational. This one's location is easier to reach for my wife too. I am not sure if this part would work in the older button systems. If you remove the keypad from the wall, the part number is on the back. Good Luck!!

The slides on 1482 are the "Integrated End Wall Slide Drive" which I have the manual for. I have read the posts from others that replaced the bearing. Today I replaced the bearing, it took around 1.5 hours and is a very easy job using two hydraulic tables as per the Valid instructions. As you can see from the last photos there were some bearings with rust, indicating a water intrusion problem.

The linear bearings are more sophisticated than expected. The exposed bearing balls are in a "race". At each end of the race there is a channel which directs the balls into the bearing body. As the bearing slides along its rail the bearings continually move and when a ball gets to the end it goes through the channel and then into the body. If the rail was long enough that ball would come out the other end of the body and then on to the rail at the other end in a never ending loop. There are 4 rows of balls.

I'm not sure when Newell changed over to this newer design. It may have been when they started to offer opposing 30" slide rooms. The newer design uses a gear and cam system to extend/retract the room. The previous used an actuator to move the room. The floor is still raised/lowered by an actuator. If someone knows when this change occurred please chime in.

The newer design uses a gear and cam system to extend/retract the room. The previous used an actuator to move the room. The floor is still raised/lowered by an actuator. If someone knows when this change occurred please chime in.
