The standby 12VDC water pump doesn't work well with the Royal Flush toilets. Is there a good reason to keep that system instead of replacing it with a standby 120VAC pump (assuming it fits)? I just am not thinking of a scenario that takes us down to 12VDC without it being a total disaster regardless of the voltage. We can normally find a cactus to lean against to resolve that problem

Hi all,

Our headhunter water pump has gotten louder and louder, please see the attached vid (looks like it won’t let me attach a vid). I’m currently filling the water tank. It also seems to run a lot and make a noise to the left of the galley, so much so, that sometimes we just turn it off to stop the noise. Wondering if it needs to be replaced. Any advice is welcomed here! Thanks

Hello. I have a 2000 coach with an electric cube heater on the driver side of the plumbing bay near the Headhunter water pump. It is controlled by a mechanical thermostat on the passenger side of the same bay. it stopped working (no power on outlet)

I thought it was the thermostat so I bought a new mechanical one and when I took out the old one to measure the line voltage I didn't have power in thermostat box. there are two wires...I thought one was incoming hot and the other was going across the bay to the switched outlet.

I have a 110v breaker in back labelled "compt heater" which was on and I measured and it has voltage on it.

so, what am I missing?

either this is wired in a way I don't understand or I have something broken in a hidden location between the rear ac breaker and the thermostat box

any suggestions?

Thanks,

So, after a long year recovering from freak accident wherein I broke my first bone ever, and had a full hip replacement, I was finally able to spend a weekend in Gettysburg in the coach. Only thing I've found not working are chassis batteries and the Watts water pressure regulator.

I capped the line back to the regulator, so I at least have water, but the shower interestingly, which started fine but, within first minute or so lost almost all pressure, almost like draining the lines after turning water off, just gradually lost pressure to a steady trickle. if this makes sense to anyone, I'm open to any and all suggestions

Anywho, after calling Cambri for suggested replacement, she said they have the same part (2A645) in stock for $279. So, I figured if I'm investing that much, I might just reconfigure things to better suit our needs/use. I still am considering new plumbing configuration (so any suggestions are most welcome) but in the meantime time I dusted off and fired up the good ole ebay machine and voila, found NOS shipped for 100bucks. This is the actual reason for this post. They seem to have a good inventory of parts. Hope this helps someone

My passenger side waste tank dump has a small leak on the bottom of the fitting where it connects to the tank. I called Newell and they said this bulk head fitting is spun welded and they remove the tank to make these kind of repairs. While I’m not opposed to that, if it ultimately becomes necessary, I’d like to try some kind of two part epoxy fix, first. The leak is very small and only drips when there is over a 1/2 tank of head pressure. The leak is definitely on the bottom of the fitting. The entire fitting is dry, except on the bottom. Has anybody had any kind of luck with any specific type of epoxy or putty?
Thx!

Much discussion has transpired over the years regarding the need for sanitizing our Newell's freshwater tank. Newell actually doesn't feel there's a need, based on many factors; on-board filters, types of resorts visited, to name a couple.

In fact, our 2015 coach doesn't have a "fresh-water" rinse/filler port. Many coaches HAVE been configured to have one, especially from those who have come from other coaches.

Personally, I feel that the ONLY good answer for someone who asks if they should sanitize their tank is, "Sure, it can't hurt if you do it properly". To me, this is a lot more prudent than the answer I've heard, which is, "Why?". After all, there's NO downside to sanitizing your tank and, if nothing else, can provide you with peace of mind.

So, I set out to configure a nice little package I can carry which allows me to, very quickly, connect to the hose bib, add bleach, then inject that bleach into my tank using the built-in fill hose. This not only is super convenient, but it also gives me the advantage of running bleach through the fill hose. Of course, I make sure that fresh water thoroughly flushes both the filter housing and the hose BEFORE I disconnect.

Here's the procedure I use, which is in accordance with Aquahot:

Have your fresh tank around 1/2 full.

SHUT YOUR ON-BOARD WATER FILTER VALVE OFF on the Wet Bay panel.

Connect this induction system to the hose bib and coach's filler hose.

Fill housing with 2 3/4c NON-SCENTED NON-GEL Household Bleach. This small housing is the PERFECT size for the 143 gallon tank...fill it to the brim.

Fill the rest of the tank with water. This will induct the pure bleach into hose and tank and, at by the time the tank is full, the housing and hose will have been flushed with clean water.

Disconnect everything.

Take a quick lap around the lot, shaking the coach/tank as much as possible.

Open EVERY faucet, spigot, and shower head...both hot and cold sides...and flush toilets, until you smell chorinated water come out.

Let set for a minimum of 4 hours. I do it overnight.

Drain tank completely.

Fill tank to about 20% with fresh water.

Open all faucets, showers, and flush toilets once again, to flush with fresh water.

Open water filter valve.

Fill tank completely with my 3-stage filter & softened water system.

I have the air operated microphor I think the model is 210. There seems to be a clog in the drain pipe from too much paper. It’s down discharge. Plunger doesn’t seem to do anything but push water places it shouldn’t be.. any ideas??

I have the water off on the manifold, I’m going to let the air tank bleed off and open the flapper and hopefully the bowl will drain after a couple hours. Maybe I can see an obstruction in there

I have been using the, Richard Special "Heat with a hair dryer/heat gun, stretch standard size over the Dupree connector" hint for a few years and now it's time to re-do my hose.

The standard hoses are 3" and it appears that the Dupree hose is 3 1/2" is that correct?? I did recently receive the (alleged) Dupree hose to standard 3" bayonet fitting, but haven't had a chance to test that.

Is the Dupree hose 3 1/2" or something else?

I came across this article and read with great interest as I have pretty much been resolved to think our Polyethylene tanks aren't repairable. In this article they use West Systems G/Flex 655 to repair a cracked holding tank. I have not used this method but have committed this to my memory bank for future possibilities.
