end of feb update.

inside had a final coat of semigloss white.  it looks awesome.  forest and i did the remainder of the inside electrical work i am responsible for.  we hung 4 ceiling fans (had to reman the mounts), the outlets, switches etc.  the builders electrician is coming wed to put the 21 ceiling lights up and do the rest of the switches for them.

the outside is nearly painted.  hope to have that done next week as well.  then i have to rent a boom lift and put the zillion lights and cameras on the outside.  and do the finish grading per the grading plan i had done by a PE.

forest and i went to put the toilet on (an american standard Vortex) and the flange was too high.  so a plumber buddy came over and used an inside cutter to take it out and then chipped out concrete to get a union in there with a new flange.  so we did that today.

i really like the semigloss white for the ceiling.  the painter tried hard to talk me out of it, but it looks great.

Tom,

I am loving what you are doing with the Newell House! Fans look good, but I am wondering if you will feel any breeze.

These guys are expensive, but maybe one over your primary work area.

bill, i researched fans a ton. the fans you have the link to are 6-8k dollars each and are huge.

i did not want fan blades over any of the lights or over the top of either coach bay. i have it set up so i can walk easily on top of a coach in either bay without ducking. that is also why i put a commercial jackshaft garage door opener on both doors. you will notice there is no trolley on the ceiling over the middle of both garage doors.

and....the fans i bought are commercial high bay fans. they each put out 46,000 cfm at high speed. by design, ONE of them is big enough for the entire shop. i put 4 of them in and an 8 foot BAfan is 160,000 cfm. so the 4 of them is about the same cfm. i also located them strategically. the one agains the wall is so when my coach is in the bay, and i am working on the drivers side (i will back it in) then i can have a fan breeze over me. then one is over the tool and lift area and the other 2 are down the center line of the shop.

a typical house ceiling fan is in the 5,000 cfm range.

i switched each fan separately and used a variable speed controller on each.

oh and they are metal bladed as well.

nice thing is they were not incredibly heavy. i was able to install last 3 by myself on the scissors lift. had forest with me on the first one and decided i could do them myself.

nonetheless, the real test will be when i get power to see how they work. all the specs in the world dont matter to your face.

i will also have some large round rolling floor fans like you see in barns.

Tom, I knew you probably researched the fans...but it would have been cool to say that you had a Big Ass Fan in your garage!

Cant wait to see it!
