The two compressor board can be easily adapted to a one compressor setup.

I have no idea what was involved in Newell fixed up my burned up big one. Cutting to the chase scene. If you have a NEW Newell provided control board you DO NOT need the external relay modification.

I would have to see a pic of your spare board to know if it is the Newell designed one, or one of the originals.

I do have a new board from Newell in my big 2 compressor unit. 

I may for simplicity get the board from Newell and use it for my single compressor unit. 

I’ll include a picture of my spare board (also needs repaired) and also the one from Newell if someone can help me with the wiring on the new one from Newell that would be great.  Looks like the thermostat plug is different
