One of the legs broke on ours while traveling this summer. I took the interior panel off to remove the handle and jury rig a fix until we could get a replacement.
You can tell if one of hinge legs breaks because the handle will be cocked. If both of them break, you might have a heck of time getting the door to open. Just sayin.......that I didn't think much about the cocked door handle, until I got the door apart and realized I was flirtin with a larger problem.
