Engine warning lights on
#1

I started the coach the other day after sitting since october , it  cranked a little more than usual and when it started the yellow check engine and the red stop engine lights were on. It ran for about 30 seconds then quit ,the only way it would keep running was by hitting the override switch ? The oil presure was fine on the gauge , maybe there is a reset switch or something ? Could be hard to track down !

Do you have a way of reading the codes from the DDEC? VMSPc or DD Prodriver?

If not can you make the DDEC flash the codes with the warning lights?

Check your radiator coolant level. I think if it's low it could give you warning lights. Or the sensor could be bad.

That's right Forrest had that happen to me at Newell and also if you have electronic oil pressure sensor and it goes out that also will do the same..

Also check in the wiring panel in the engine compartment for the 2 ddec circuit breakers. They could have tripped or failed.

Even though I have been accused of being a mechanic I am somewhat confused by this large diesel rig, How would I get the ddec to flash codes ? I guess that would be similar to the old GM obd1 where you could short a terminal and count the light flashes ?

on that link it says that unhooking the battery would clear the codes ! would turning the battery switches off not do the same thing  ?or perhaps there is always some power to the ddec ?  Thanks

Thanks guys good info , the fluid levels are good but it definitly could be haywire sensors (they are probably originals)I will check the circuit breakers in the r/r locker,   Probably starting this thing at plus 3c was not such a good idea ,should have used the block heater for a few hours !

Don, I believe that the DDEC computers are wired around the battery switches so you would have to remove the battery cables to actually reset the DDEC.
