365 front tire wheel change

Is it mandatory? NO. Is it advisable? YES. The 365/70R22.5 has a carrying capacity of 10,500 pounds per tire at 125 psi while the 315/80R22.5 has a carrying capacity of 9080 pounds per tire at 130 psi. Newell recommended a maximum cruising speed of 65 mph for the 315 and 75 mph with the 365's. Coaches beginning with #443 (a 1997) can be fitted with the 365's.

Have your coach weighed BY TIRE POSITION. If you are close or over the 9080 pounds per front tire, you should change to the larger tires. If you are well under that weight on the front and don't mind driving at a reduced speed, you should be good to go with the 315's. Remember that the weight of each Newell is different. The model year, the number of front slides, the floorplan and how you load your coach will all affect the weight on the front tires. You will get more peace of mind and a smoother ride with the larger tires since you can reduce the tire pressure.

Mandatory if your coach weight is over the weight that is recommended for 315s.  If your weight is not over then it is personal preference.

Michael, I have only had this coach a couple of months but found a weight slip from one of the previous owners in 2006 showing the front axle at 17,300 LB
that would be about 8,650 LB per tire. That's within only 430 LB of the tires maximum rating. Is that to close?

I am just curious to know if one is running with the 315 tires, and the brakes are applied, does't the weight increase substantially in a panic stop? Dario, I put 365s on my 2001, #579.

Good point. In going through some of the additional paper work, I discovered that this coach did have a left front tire failure which ended up causing damage to the front left compartment housing the HWH systems. Looks like it was around a 9K repair. Think I'm going to go with the 365 conversion before we go on any long trips this summer. Thanks to all of you guys for your input, I had now knowledge of this potential danger.

Ok, I mounted my 365's on my shiny new Alcoa rims. I have 7/8ths studs, the Dana metric IRS, the lug nuts with the washer, fit within the number sequence, all check check. Well guess what? Newell put a batch of Dana front ends starting with coach #450 and mine is #458 and they are spaced at the studs 4" center to center on adjoining lugs instead of the smaller pattern a little over 3". Wheels won't fit! Also, Newell says there is no way to replace the hubs. Now I need new 315's.

Since they are somewhat hard to get, perhaps another Guru who can use them will bail you out. Sorry Steve for the mixup.

I ordered the tire sthru Michelin Advantage on 9-18-17 and got them last week! They went up from $724 to $761 during the wait.
I thought I was locked in at the lower price.

So your hubs only have 8 wheel studs?

This is a good example of why Newell needs to provide better documentation with their coaches.
