Possible fire hazard
#3

Adrian,
I will take your bet.

Since I have been to the school of "not all Newells are the same", I will refer to my coach. There is only one 4/0 battery cable in my coach--it runs from the top battery bank positive post to the inverter fuse in the inverter compartment. All other battery cables, including the genset cables are 3/0 on my coach. Only the 4/0 cable showed the signs of insulation cracking and degrading. All of the 3/0 cabling were in good shape except one that had some corrosion--it was replaced.

NOW is the time for, especially folks who own coaches in our year range, to verify that they do not have degrading insulation which exposes the wire itself and could cause a fire if shorted out. When I checked my coach I inspected all of the battery cables and would encourage every one to do the same. Cost is only time to do the inspection. If you find that your coach's battery cables are configured different than mine, don't be surprised--"no two Newells are the same--JUST CHECK.

My cost was some time & $106.60. Most of my time was spent planning the project. I ran some 1/4" tubing through the route that is was routing the cabling and this allowed me to easily measure how much cabling I needed to buy.
