In the "whatever it is worth section", I damaged my muffler somewhere this summer by backing into something that mashed it badly resulting in a few leaks.  I called Newell for a new one and was told the price was either $800 or $900, plus shipping.  Fortunately they did not have one or I would have purchased it.  Upon returning to Mexico, I had it rebuilt by a welding shop for the grand sum of $50.  Made my day.

WOW!  You can afford another tire with the savings at that rate! lol  I need to have one made for the genny exhaust as it is leaking - can smell diesel when sitting still and the front vent fan is running... it's on the list...

Adrian,

I dont know the details....but here is something to look at. Is your genny in the nose cap on a slider? If so, look at how the exhaust pipe slides when you extend the slider. On my coach there was some sort of seal that needed to be replaced. (Newell did it, so I don't know exactly what is involved....but I remember that it was not expensive and it did away with the exhaust smell inside the coach).

There is a thread somewhere (that I can't find) about lubricating the exhaust pipe.

Cheers,
bill

their is a packing rope that is inside a groove in the pipe that can be replaced. i have the rope but have not done it.

just use antisieze on the pipe to lube it. i think it was high temp nickel or something like that.
