Well...looking for correct part numbers Knorr Bremse and/or Bendix equivalent for this 97 to order the correct stuff.
Newell has 2 brake disks in stock but won't give out the OEM part #. Want $450 for one. The shop says that is about double what they should cost.
Also the brake pads (Meritor) should be around $200...Newell wants $480 ...
Same story with the Ridewell solid axle tierod ends...need to find the part numbers to know what we are looking for. Newell won't give out any P/N's
The research continues....
Quick question to the gurus....the disk rotor that has a crack is on the driver side position. The passenger side looks fine, has some wear but nothing terrible....just old.
The shop of course says I should change them both...3 hrs labor at 145 plus $400 for the rotor per side...sure why not....not their money....but is it necessary if there are no issues there ? Will put new brake pads on both wheels, new disk on the left, keep the original o the right...is that a no-no ?
I was told that the tag axle bags on a 97 should be W01-358-8992......well they are not......ordered 2, and the 8992's are about half the size of what is on the bus. Have to take an old one off and figure out what it is then get the correct bags....look as big as the ones on the drive axle which are 9447's.
