Given model changes over the years, I think the surest way to get the right part is to pull the old one out, and use the number on the motor to get a replacement.
Given the corrosive nature of Florida, have you tried to manually assist the step in and out a few times. I know mine has gotten stuck on occasion. Since the way the motor works is that it "stalls" instead of using limit switches to tell it when to stop, a stuck step or sticky bushing in the step will cause it to stop working properly.
I will take it out and see.
