LED lighting replacement
#1

Hi Gurus!  What LED lights are you using to replace the halogen bulbs in the puck (ceiling) lights?  I bought some a few years ago but they are loose in their sockets and don’t work well - plus I bought 5k Kelvin and should have probably gone with 3 or 4K Kelvin… what name brand/model number, Kelvin level do you guys suggest please and where did you get your bulbs?

I just installed:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08D3K...UTF8&psc=1

They are Warm White, which I prefer and fit nicely with no trimming needed. They will NOT work in the aimable lights.

Alternately, if you want a bit less brightness, I bough a bunch of these as well. Mainly for the bedroom ceiling pucks.

Be aware, Aliexpress orders take around 3 weeks (sometimes more) to arrive.

Be seeing you,

2700 Kelvin is the preferred warm white that resembles old incandescent lights.

But if you have aging eyes I find the 4000-5000 Kelvin lights to give more contrast with the whiter light. All what you prefer.

We use different Kelvin level lighting in different rooms in our HOME (Coach is about the same but still experimenting). For living/sleeping areas we use 2700-3500 (warm white) for other areas like bathrooms and reading areas we use between 4000 and 6000 depending on how ‘blue’/bright we want the light. We used 5000k in our new kitchen to get the sparkle from the granite countertops and it works great to see the countertops! All our thin LED can lights are dimmable and run on Lutron smart switches so it makes the lighting very versatile. I installed 8” LED wafer lights in the garage about every 3 feet and man, is it bright in there!

I have been using this light for some time. It is relatively warm although the color varies from one light to the next. There is also a rather high failure rate. having converted around 60 quartz bulbs, over the course of about 3 years I have replaced about 25 of them with new LED's Most fail due to component failure as quality control is very lax.

You will also need to retain a few of the original quartz bulbs to provide enough impedance in the circuits. In my case the reading lights in the saloon would flash when the interior air door was opened or closed. Switching out the LED's for the original quartz on just those lights solved the problem.

I also have been testing these replacement fixtures which come with LED's sealed inside. I got a sample of the first one from Newell and then found them on Amazon. They work very well and provide a nice even light. You can find them in white trim. No gold bezel so if you do one you will need to change them all or figure out how to repaint the bezel.

I am doing this right now. Call Steve the owner at m4products.com and he will walk you through exactly what you need. We just got in our shipment. Another guy did it. His bulbs are suppose to be a lot better. Mine took around 70 bulbs. I have Coach 1248.

I found these on Amazon and am ordering 40 of them! They are dimmable (not sure how that will work but it would be cool)…

EDIT: the little attachment wires sticking out the end of the bulbs are too short and make the lights blink IF they actually make contact… I’m still looking but now have about 20 of these in our coach - most of the lights work fine but the short wires make it difficult to get a decent connection…

Newbie question related to replacing ceiling puck light bulbs... what is the trick to get the cover off of the puck WITHOUT breaking it? I am sure it is something simple but I do not want to break the ring or tabs to get the cover off to access the bulb. They seem to be very tightly secured. Thanks for any insights.

I used this to remove stubborn puck light covers.
