1991 8V92TA Air Filter
#1

I'm looking for the proper replacement for the air filter. I found https://www.racorstore.com/racor-0628910...-5x24.html, Wanted to make sure that this is the correct air filter before I order it for a replacement. We are headed out to EDC Las Vegas on the 11th of May, and I want to limit our surprises. I don't know the last time the filter was replaced, and I blew it out with an air hose, (from the inside out) on the last trip after getting hit by a pretty heavy dust storm coming down 287 from I-40, on the way home to Fort Worth.

I use the following filters Parker 071338003, Donaldson P524838, Fram CA6623, or Fleetguard AH1135M.

Here is a current example https://www.mddistributorsstore.com/item...ter/1.html

Might save you a few dollars.

I looked up the service manuals for Detroit 8V92 (https://newellgurus.com/showthread.php?tid=6681), but none of the manuals says part numbers on air filter.
Why wouldn't you just take off your existing one on your coach to see markings?

Thank you very much, I'm going to save this in my bookmarks, for the future and get one on order.

The Original part number was C-62891-3 Ecolite. When I googled it, it kept on returning results that had a big round port on the side.

I checked the Manual for my 1992 Newell and show the same C-62891-3 Ecolite filter as the recommended filter and I concur that the Ecolite does have an extended intake port on the side in lieu of the flush side opening the filters I have used over the almost 20 years. I have used the filters I listed for three reasons: 1) that is what was on the coach when I purchased it and as I recall, that is what Newell replaced it with when I took it into them for yearly maintenance, 2) it does make it easier to access the electrical panel in the rear of the engine compartment without the protruding intake nossle, and I have had an easier time locating the filters with the curved, screened air intake at a reasonable price.

I would not be adverse to using the filter you listed. The potential advantage to the filter with the extended intake port is that in the rare situation of a runaway engine, it might be better to find a piece of plywood to put over the flat open intake port than using a folded blanket or tarp to block off the curved screened intake area on the filters I listed. Other than that, I see no advantage. Your mileage may vary.

Just an update on this. M&D Distributors have the Racor & Parker 071338003 on back order since November. They do have the AH1135 in stock for about 9 dollars more and are shipping tomorrow. Their customer service contacted me about 45 minutes after I placed the order to notify me the part was out of stock and with a solution. So I will definitely be ordering from them in the future.
