Hello this is Willie and Rachel Moore we recently purchased Coach #465 a 1997 double slide. The coach currently has 173,000 miles so she was no hanger queen. A little background on me after high school I went right into the US Navy and worked on A-7E Coarsair ejection seats and air conditioning and pressurization. After discharge from the Navy I went to college year while working and UPS and I have been employed at UPS for 33 years.I grew up tent camping to a fold down to a slide in truck camper with my family and I still own the 1977 Chevy 3/4 ton camper special truck my Dad bought when it was about a year old it’s all original and very solid o my driven two winters. In the early 2000’s I was had an obsession with power boats and did a fair amount of maintenance on those. Around 2010 my wife and I had a 26’ travel trailer for a few years. In 2021 I bought a year old coachmen class C which we sold this past July we used it quite a bit and actually put 6,500 miles on it last summer. I always wanted a diesel pusher and have followed many FB groups the past few years. I had called the previous owner of our Newell who is a retired former co worker of mine to ask questions about an American Eagle I saw for sale. While talking he mentioned that he’d be selling the Newell that they owned since 2001. I thought about that a month and decided to look at it and the rest is history. I told my wife this is like going from a Cessna 152 to a Citation x! So far we absolutely love it and still kind of can’t believe we have a Newell. A couple of mechanics from our  truck shop crawled  under it and said that it’s one of the cleanest engines they’ve seen. They did point out a couple thing I need to address tag bushings and a tag slack adjuster other than that said it’s solid and clean. So I will be on here learning a lot.

Well Willie, here is a suggestion. You have the big Aqua Hot which has a Webasto diesel burner. When the diesel burner switch is on and the burner is firing, observe the exhaust pipe. The exhaust gases should be clean and clear. If not, service the burner.

Once you know the burner is firing clean and clear, run the burner once per month or more year round, period. Leaving the burner off for weeks and months on end allows the diesel on the nozzle to congeal. The burner will start smoking and may even not fire.

Enjoy your coach

Welcome aboard! Your background will serve you very well in maintaining your new toy. You will find plenty of technical and moral support here. We are afflicted with keeping these babies rolling.

There is tons of info accumulated over the last ten years in this forum. There is nothing wrong with asking any question but I suggest that you spend a minute researching before asking. Learning to use the search engine is key to getting the most out of this data base.

To get you started you should run the following exercise. Into the search window that is labeled “Enhanced by Google” type the phrase “tag axle bushings”. The search engine will result in any post that contains any of those three words. You may find what you are looking for, and you may give up looking at that many posts.

Now type “tag AND axle AND bushings” into the search bar. You will see the search is narrowed to provide posts with all three words as the first results. You are much more likely to find what you are looking for. The key is the use of the word AND in all caps.

Looks like you already have the picture posting conquered. They really help sometimes to post a pic of what you are asking about because no two Newells are exactly alike and who know what a previous owner has modified

Willie I have the tag bushings and a panhard bar brand new for sale if your interested. We replaced ours and bought extra bushings for the driver and found our panhard bar had been replaced.

Cute dog!
