Usually you can smell the antifreeze if the heater core is leaking. Turn the dash heater on wide open after everything has warm up and you should smell the antifreeze. My 96 did leak and I discover by running the defroster. The leak was real small and never showed up until I used the heater/defroster in the winter time. I had newell to remove which was a pretty big job and they fixed the leak in the core.
