Yep, Clarke our older 92 series don't have these filters, Low Tech!

Steve, love LOW TECH....especially with my black tank issue this morning!
I'll have to look for that one!
another update.

this morning my brotherinlaw and i got the cooling system all back together. we ran it for quite a while with the cap off but couldnt get it up to temp to open the thermostats. so later today we unhooked and drove to a really nice city owned visitors center that has a fantastic dual lane dump station and water fill with great access. hey....we have been here 15 days and it was time to dump.

no leaks and we got it up to temp. it sucked in about another gallon of coolant so i will top it off in the morning when it has cooled down.

i think we finally got it licked. i only have to go get a few stainless bolts to finish the radiator fan shroud.

for information....we used high end tbolt clamps on the new hoses. 6 clamps on the upper rear radiator hose, 4 on the lower front hose, and 3 each where both connect to the engine. on the engine side there is only room for 1 clamp each. we cleaned off and rust primered the front bottom engine hose connection to make sure it makes a good seal.

supposed to be cool tonite so will check one more time for leaks in the morning and then call it good if there is none. after holding pressure for over two days with no leaks i assume i should be ok.

coach ran like a top and my brotherinlaw drove it home the long way. he was impressed.

we have been in lethbridge for 15 days. primarily to help with darlenes ailing mom so we were in no rush to get the coach ready to go. we will probably be here at least another week. but who knows. enjoying ourselves here.

happy thursday

tom
Congrats on a good, but tough fix! Thanks for the excellent play by play of the repair. I also hope Darlene's Mom is doing better.
Seems like retirement has altered your approach to schedules. It is encouraging for a guy on the cusp to see how that works
i think i have the coolant thing figured out. drove 300 miles today with no loss of coolant. now i just have to replace some shutoff valves sometime and figure out if there is a leak in the heater core.

tom
Tom,
Usually you can smell the antifreeze if the heater core is leaking. Turn the dash heater on wide open after everything has warm up and you should smell the antifreeze. My 96 did leak and I discover by running the defroster. The leak was real small and never showed up until I used the heater/defroster in the winter time. I had newell to remove which was a pretty big job and they fixed the leak in the core.
yea ron, i did try that before and i could smell it a little bit.

but i didnt want to try it again because i am trying to monitor the coolant without inducing any more leaks.

the levels seem to fluctuate in the overflow tank from day to day and hot to cold.

tom
When mine leak it really never showed up in the overflow tank. I would maybe add a quart every 3-4 month not thinking much about it. When I really realizes I had a problem was at night in a rain a little cold outside and trying to defrost the wind shield. It really got hard to defrost and unsafe to drive. We had to stop and wait for the next day to go on. After that I went straight to Newell to get fixed. This got my attention.
