My Newell has several of these functioning as light dimmers and need to be replaced. They are labeled "Mouser K50" . I cannot find them on Mousers web-site. Is there a better choice for a replacement? I'm planning to convert to LED's.

Our slide seal had come loose from the glue and we were using the trusted Newell method of spatula & Windex to push the seal back into the slot. We were at Lazydays in Tucson and decided to have it fixed. They chickened out and we made an appointment with Newell.

As we retracted the slide, the seal blew and there were a series of loud banging noises during the retraction.

Didn't put the slide out again until @ Newell.

As Newell deconstructed the slide to change the seal, they noticed both slide locks were bent into the coach at about 45 degrees and that the seal failure had been caused by the rear slide lock pin puncturing the seal. They then looked on the slide roof and found rows of punctures along the path of the slide locks. Two of the slide solenoid s were also damaged

As the slide retracted, the slide locks repeatedly punctured the slide roof.

Cause: a switch that stops the slide on its inward travel had broken and sent out repeated "the slides in fire the locks" messages.
Ain't hydraulics amazing??.??

Repair was pretty straight forward: bend the lock mechanism back into position, install new seal, repair slide holes with epoxy, long strips of metal, pop rivets and more epoxy, replace switch, and lots of fussy work adjusting the slide. New switch, two new solenoids, new seal, and lots of labor

Lessons learned: not really. The stop switch either works or it doesn't. No test.

Glad we went to Newell for the repairs.

As with anything mechanical, a new noise can't be good news.

At engine shut down on Friday all noises were normal. At engine start up on Saturday, a strange new noise coming from the center console. Sounds like a fan or fan belt going bad but revs up & down with engine and sounds as if from a speaker, sounds as if coming from just under radio and above rear view monitor. Checked back at engine, checked that radio is off, checked that the ac fan was off, checked the outside front compartments and underneath, checked center speaker. Nada!

What else is in the console that could make that noise?

Any thoughts, suggestions?

We have achieved air leak Nirvana! Alas, if only temporarily! After our latest hunt using one of those sound gizmos, we replaced the two front air bags & a valve, the 12V comp. pressure reg. and the main waste valve actuator. The only leak that was audible to the naked ear was the 12v pressure reg. The air bags leaks were visible with soapy water. The actuator leak was the biggest but didn't show with soapy water & was not audible to the ear without the sound amplifying gadget.

Results: the 120V compressor now takes 10+ hours to cycle. Amazing as it was on an every 6 minute cycle. The 12v compressor (dry camping) did not cycle in 12 + hours and seems much quieter when it does run. Only took a year to get here. Have to admit the absence of compressor cycling noise is a little weird.

Now we're on alert for the inevitable decrease in cycle time as the next leak(s) manifest themselves!

I figure i start the new thread and see how many Newells owners up there full timing ?

Cheryl & I & out two Rhodesian Ridgeback started long jurney 10 months ago and loving it!! our home base is in Florence , Montana
plan was to see US and Canada for next 2-3 years than comeback to MT and just take long vacations from there.

So far , we started in WA than on to MT, ID , OR , AZ & CA , now bak to OR and slowly heading to ID in June/July, than to WY in July/August, than to CO in August/Sepemeber & trough NM,AZ and back to Indio, CA for another winter.
Love to hear where are you and where you heading to thsi year?

Gang,

Many of us have a large Girard awning that is supposed to retract when the wind picks up. Mine never has...even in what I thought were strong winds.

Well thanks to Steve B. I was able to adjust mine. Its pretty simple to do.

1) Find Girard control box. Mine was located behind the electric switch panel next to entrance.

2) Take cover off of control box. (4 screws located at the corners). See picture.

3) In center of circuit board is a pot. that controls the wind speed. Mine was set to center range. I turned the pot counter clockwise to minimum position (12mph). See diagram on circuit board.

4) Put it all back together and wait for a breeze!
