I second Russ' suggestion on adding a little more time & thought than just hitting the button after 40 seconds.  Suzy & I always have someone outside when we are going to run the slides.  Prior to moving a slide I too check slide alignment and check to make sure there is no where that the seal is sticking against the sides of the slides.  Although my tool is different than Russ', it accomplishes the same thing by running it between the deflated seal & the slide.  We have found on our coach that most of the problems are with the front seal where the front slide window passes.  We check all vertical areas on both slides.  We have not experienced any problems with the top or bottom surfaces.

This process saved us from rolling a seal out once.  Not much fun when it is raining, but still better than a trip to Miami!
