Kitchen Exhaust Fan on Roof - Coach 1482
#1

The Kitchen exhaust fan is an Evans Tempcon HV-207321 mounted on the roof and the Evans HV210022 motor was seized.  The fan sucks air from above the refrigerator.  Unfortunately it is always venting and is mounted beside a sewer vent.  There are times the sewer gas comes down the vent which makes it imperative the fan must work.  Evans Tempcon apparently sold out and that assembly wasn't available.  I removed the motor which turned out to be a Unimotor HV033106. I searched and found a Unimotor 35576 at AutoZone listed as a Four Seasons 35576.  The dimensions are slightly different but I was able to make it fit.

When we used either of the bathroom Fantastic Vents it sucked in sewer odor through the kitchen exhaust vent.  The kitchen exhaust vent doesn't have a damper on it and vents directly above the refrigerator.  The kitchen vent also had debris entering through the slots which ends up on top of the refrigerator.  I cleaned the refrigerator and added a screen to the vent to help keep debris out.  I mounted a piece of polyethylene plastic between the sewer vent and the kitchen exhaust vent (see photo) which seems to have cured the odor problem.

Jim now thats a perplexing problem, way to close to the vent in my opinion. You might have to put a 90 on it and run it away from the fan for a couple feet.
