Dynamic Cruise?
#11

When you turn the ignition switch ON the green "SmartCruise" light should illuminate until you push the brake pedal. That is the first thing to check since that indicates a good VORAD system. If you contact Rick Youngblood he will want to know if it did that.

The brake lights should work when you push the pedal but if they do not turn off when the pedal is released they would cause the VORAD to fail.
Sometimes I would be using the Jake manually and then push the cruise control resume button, the cruise control wouldn't work until the Jake was switched off.. Since VORAD also operates the Jake I assume manually turning the Jake on interferes with the system.

Rick Youngblood is a retired Eaton engineer who developed the VORAD system and has helped many VORAD owners. I can PM his info to anyone that has VORAD problems.

It was perfect for I5 where the line of trucks does 60-65 (perfect for me) and the 'fast lane' is trying for 80.  I just lock onto a truck I like and the rig does the rest. Trying to match speed otherwise is constant fidgeting.  Pity that this is not around for Newell but then that 12 speed box is an entirely different animal than the Allison 4000.

We had a 2006 Country Coach Magna with a 600 hp Cummins. The coach had the Vorad and adaptive cruise control installed when we bought it in 2008. I only used it on the highway and thought it was a GREAT system to have in the coach. I remember driving south on I-25 in southern New Mexico on our first trip in the coach and was enjoying looking out the big windshield of the coach. All of a sudden the coach started slowing down so I assumed the cruise control had disconnected, well a motorcycle had "slipped " in front of us and the Vorad and ACC detected it and that was why we were slowing down.
I am new to the group and sorry to read that this system is not in many Newells since we are considering getting back into RVing and considering a pre owned Newell.
I am enjoying reading these posts in this site.
