This years new paint on the 1975 Newell 30 foot coach
#1

I'd like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah this December 15 2025.

This is another of my DIY projects - bought a blow up booth so I didn't paint my neighbors house - rough job but turned out ok at the 25 ft distance  Dodgy
Sorry I've not kept up with this site - it's been a wirlwind year.

I'm not completely satisfied and will be touching it up at our Covert Michigan property this summer. Right now we're enjoyng the weather in our Sand Springs Oklahoma home. And I have a donor engine and transmission vehicle in my driveway. 98 Monaco Windsor - 8.3 mechanical Cummins and a Allison World 6 speed automatic that I'm going to put into my Newell this spring. It's going to be a pain and fun also. I'm a Master Auto Tech and an Engineer but this is by far the biggest thing I've ever tried. Fun getting a new to me A-frame - 10ton chain fall and a beast of an engine crane to swap things around. For those that have followed my storied Newell projects I had an 8.3 Cummins ISC I had to sell because of our move to Oklahoma, even though that was painfull loosing the money I couldn't be happiers putting in the 300hp engine with under 60,000 miles. Our Michigan property is new for us this year also. Close to the big lake with 1 hour access to our older daughters house in GR and 1 hour from South Bend for old friends and family. Another huge project but I couldn't be happier to take it on. Especially since Marcia and I are both retired senior citizens with much more time for projects.

I am a muscle car fan. I love oddball combos too.
Will it do this?

Ha Ha - yeah that's pretty cool. I really don't think this diesel will spin the wheels at all - my Mustang does a good job of that though. I'd love to add some of the drivetrain features of this Monaco. I've not given up hope yet, but I don't think adding an 8 airbag system to the 75 Newell is possible. I have 4 airbags in the back that are designed like add-ons to the leaf springs - the front is a straight axle with leaf's. It's a little rough ride wise. The Monaco kind of glides.
I'm going to do some carefull measurements, however I'm pretty sure it's a pipe dream. Maybe the axles and brakes, we'll see.
I like the slide room also, Marcia say's no so that's probably not possible anyway. May save the parts for future consideration.

This is my kind of fun though. Smile

HAHA Love the Winnebago burn out, thanks Hank.

John I'm one to make things better but have found out the cost involved will never be recovered. My wife and I still have our Newell with slides sitting in our driveway waiting on a card from HWH since September for the rear slide so I am anti slide guy now, to me the extra room is not worth the cost and headache from its operation. Now this will stir the pot!

"Back in the Day" hot rodders would swap out a Mustang II or Pinto rack and pinion for the old school steering.
I don't think they would be stout enough in this application...
I'll figure out how to or where to hold a picture so I can insert what my father came up with. A Spartan House Trailer from the 50's and a 1969 Toronado. Here's a link.
