Total Vision Monitor Failure and Repair
#1

My Total Vision rear view monitor which is about 11" wide quit today.  I took it apart & found a burnt power plug.  I destroyed the receptacle, cut the plug off & soldered the wires to the board.  All is good now, it works great!

God job Jim. Did you smell that burning at some point in time?

I smelled it when I removed it from the mount.  That gave me hope, I had assumed I would have to replace it until the odor hit me.  I also looked for the Hitachi INVC639 board, couldn't find one.

Is that DC or AC? Very surprising it burned up like that. Appears that it might have been a high resistance connection but wondering if something else is going on that started pulling more current through the connection?

I don't know, I just assumed a poor connection but haven't looked any farther.
