Jim,

Yes, the OUTBACK PSX-240 AutoTransformer can be used as a STEP UP or STEP DOWN transformer. And, in our case, it's used to STEP UP the 110v to 240v.

I'll include the schematic of configuration in case you don't have it.

Thanks Steve.  If you have the PSX-240 Users Guide I'd appreciate a copy.

Auto Transformer checks good at 244 VAC.  With the Auto Transformer circuit breakers tripped OFF, the second VFX2812 fan came on and I measured 236 VAC in the inverter circuit breaker panel in the electronics bay.  That panel has NO breakers assigned to the cooktop.  The only Cooktop breaker I have found is in the rear closet main breaker panel.

For those with the Outback system, is your cooktop circuit breaker in the Inverter Breaker panel or the Main Breaker panel?

I'm in China at the moment, but IIRC, the cooktop is only in my panel at the back as well, Jim. If I am not mistaken, the cooktop was one of the contactors(and automatic load management) that I bypassed. My rig is a quite a bit older than yours, but was Newell still using the contactor load management in the the newer Newells like yours?

Is the breaker panel in the rear of the bus also live on both legs?

If you do still have the contactors for the load management, I would start there. It seems weird that it would work on Shorepower, but not work through the inverters. I can't remember exactly how mine are wired at the inverters.

It also sounds like they may have changed how they did the wiring because as I can recall, I don't have a separate panel with individual breakers in the electronics bay. It just lights up my panel at the back breaker panel, so anything in my rig that can run on shore power can also run on the inverters although I believe the contractor system helped to regulate that as well.

Called Newell service & was told they don't put the cooktop on the inverter and that the only items the inverter operates is whatever is listed on the inverter circuit breaker panel in the electronics bay.

No offense to Newell, but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense... you'd have to fire up your genny in the wee hours just to scramble some eggs...  yours is definitely wired differently than mine then. How easy would it be to light up that back panel with the inverter?
