I’m replacing the fuel filter on my series 60, and wondering if there is a way to do it where I do not have to re-prime the injectors???

The series 60 is self priming. Just need to fill the fuel filter back with fuel and you should be fine. There should be a check valve in the fuel line to keep the fuel from draining back into the fuel tank. I always like to start and run the engine to get it warm before I change the filter, this makes starting it after the fuel change easier.
I say all this and you can have other issues, I helped another Newell owner and we ended up having to replace his fuel line and check valve to the fuel tank in order to resolve his issue of losing prime on his engine. They do not have fuel pumps in the tanks so the engine driven pump is trying to pull fuel all the way from the tank, any excess air in the fuel pump and it will not want to prime very easily. Typically as long as you do not have any of these other issues you should be fine with just refilling you fuel filter and starting and running it unit it clears any air from the system.

Greg,
You may have a priming pump located on the vanity panel at the fuel fill. If so, about a gazillion strokes will fill the Davco after you change the filter.
If not, I always filled the filter from the top opening with new ATF. ATF only because I knew it was clean, and much easier than trying to transfer diesel into a smaller container.
Do use the drain on the bottom of the filter. It will keep you from making a diesel mess.
After you refill and crank, check around the clear base for bubbles. Bubbles indicate the square O ring is not sealed.

Thanks sooo much! When I have changed the fuel filter in most of my other diesels I usually fill it with sea foam as the engine will run on it fine and it’s what a lot of injector cleaners use. Any reason I should not consider doing that in this case?

The only thing I would be worried about using that much solvent at100% going straight to injectors is its lack of lubricity. It might score the pin in the injector. But that is conjecture not
Nased on any data I have
