1996 Solid Front Axle Front Rear Shocks
#1

Hello Everyone,
I am going to the factory in a few weeks to have some stuff done, and they are going to refresh the front/rear suspension where needed. I am trying to make sure i have the parts on hand, so, if one is needed I don;t get stuck there.

I've read through many postings regarding Shocks and have boiled it down to several part numbers.

Front--90-1710SP3
Drive--90C-1868
Tag----90C-1813 Or Maybe -->Gabriel #89436 HD

I have the Solid Front Axle with 4 Airbags (though, for some reason the factory thinks I had the Dana IFS!)

It's a 1996 #423

Can someone please confirm which are the correct ones and how many so I can order them? Even if they are not needed, I'd like to have a full set, just in case.

Thank you!

Be seeing you,

If you have a solid axle those are not the shocks you need. I do not know what you need, but those are for an IFS, and I don’t think Koni is making them any longer.

Richard,
All three are wrong? I understand the IFS and Solid Axel use different shocks in the front, but what about the part numbers for the Drive and Tag??

Rick,
What's the chances you got the shock part numbers?

Here are the shocks for my coach 1998 #490:

Front IFS 90-1868 (matched up specs and confirmed based on shocks I removed that these fit)
Drive 90-1868? (Not confirmed but this is the same ridewell suspension my Wanderlodge has and it uses the 90-1868)
Tag 88-1641SP3 (independant swing arm ridewell suspension)

Does anyone know what front suspension they used on the soldi front axle? I am guessing it was ridewell since they used ridewell for the drive and tag.

Rick if you can get a photo of your front suspension I may be able to identify it. I suspect they may have used the same suspension as Wanderlodge. If so the front shocks are 90-1968.

I appreciate the reply. I'm about to order new shocks all the way around. I'm going to have to figure out the solid front axle shocks. I just might crawl under it tomorrow and see if I can find a tag on one or something that identifies them. The drives still ha e the old Koni shocks on them. The tag I've identified and will be getting the Gabriel shocks. I just thought I might look at crossing them all to Gabriel and saving a bunch.

I would suggest trying a koni shock compared to the gabriel. I have tried them both and I can say the konis are much stronger. You may be able to see the shock numbers on the shocks, they are usually stamped on them.
