Front air compressors
#1

Hi,

We are new owners of coach #1234, our front air compressor is running constantly . I searched the forum but didn’t have any look for what I’m looking for.

The biggest leak is from the compressor(s). Wrapped in white tape into the reservoir. Is there an upgrade to this 2008 tech that can circumvent all these connections? Or at least over better system with the air release?

Thanks,

Oh my! Tape is funny. Remove that mess, turn the compressor off, and take the fitting loose. Take it to any truck supply house and get a new one. Most of us use compression instead of push to connect to avoid future leaks. You want DOT rated fittings not stuff from the home improvement stores.

If you are not near a truck supply house, post a pic of the fitting and we can provide a link.

Yes!  It was obviously replaced.  Originally they came with an auto-drain which that does not have.  Look at the floor underneath it, should be a small hole for a water drain hose to expel it under the coach.  The one on 1482 is an SMC part# AFM20-N02C-CZ.  The solenoid valve is VX3114-01N-6G1-B

I recommend you go to a truck supply and get a bunch of 1/4" DOT tubing, perhaps 20'.  It's bulletproof and lasts forever.  My preference is to use straight fittings with a street ell instead of an elbow fitting.  It's much easier to remove when you have your next problem.  You will eventually need 1/8", 3/8" and 1/2" tubing for other systems, the Bode door uses 8mm (5/16") tubing.  While I generally use DOT fittings I believe a general purpose brass fitting does a good job when a brass insert is used in the tubing.

The muffler is what I made to silence the air compressor unloader valve when it shuts off.  The Bode door also has one.

Ahhhhhhhhhh, Coach 1234 stirred something in these corrupted memory files. That coach belonged to Nebster. If I remember, he installed quite a sophisticated battery inverter system in that coach.

You might want to search all his posts on this site to read background on your new toy.

Hi Richard,

I’ve been in contact with Ben and yes, your memory is correct, he did install the solar / battery system in this coach!
