Outdoor Temperature Sensor Placement
#1

Where's the best place to locate the outside temperature sensor?  The Dakota Digital readout is above the pilot seat and the sensor is currently on the roof inside of a covered vent.   I need to replace the sensor.  Normally I put them in front but the generator warms that area up.

Jim on most cars they're under the front bumper.

Yes, however the compressor is left front, generator in middle and generator radiator & fan on right front.  The whole area around the front gets very warm when the generator is running.  Under the driver rear view mirror is one option but running a wire there isn't fun.

I believe mine was just behind the mid entry door protruding to the exterior through the basement floor

That's where it's going, front left.  I removed the front left running light assembly to gain access to the conduit that runs from the cockpit inside near the brake pedal to the exterior.  It's an easy run to the display above the driver.  That conduit is filling up, TV coax, TPMS coax, temperature thermistor wire and a small pull tape for the next project.

Did you use a wire tracer?

I have one but didn't need it for this.  Newell put conduit in the floor and ceiling which has made life much easier when running wires.  The average run of the mill shop would have no idea and will just drill a hole.
