40'6" 3 slide Newell with Salvage Title. Listed as 24,000 miles but VIN check shows new odometer in 2012 with 211 miles. C-13. Consult with Newell before purchasing any Newell with a Salvage Title. Size and paint looks like 748 but do not confuse the two coaches.

Mike,
I saw this yesterday and sent two messages, none of them answered. Maybe they're getting a lot of interest.
Where did you get the VIN? That was one of my questions. Also, did you mean 211k miles in 2012?
Regards,
Bob

Bob, the VIN is 1N9406X8551011724. I have the VIN numbers for most of the 1990-2018 Newells. I have a program that will generate a Newell VIN for me that I wrote as long as I know the coach number, the year and the length.
As to your second question, AutoCheck back in 2014 showed an entry on 6/28/2012 of Salvage Title with an odometer reading of 211 miles which, assuming they are correct would indicate a new odometer installed in 2012.

Mike,
Thanks. I saw this unit on RVTrader and messaged the owner 3 times via the RVTrader mechanism. There was no reply. RVTrader did send a confirmation that my message was sent. Funny. If I was selling this I'd answer the messages. I would think that with no replies, the sale could only be local. Oh well. It would have been good to find out who fixed the rig. I don't imagine that Newell did it, however if it was not structural but a lot of basic panel damage, the insurance company may have factored age into it and then totaled it........but we'll never know.

I’m sure someone already is looking at it or on their way. I get tired of 10 -20 emails. Usually I go down the list. If first contact already reached out to me and put a deposit down or is on his way, i don’t bother with all the other emails.
Just the way it goes sometimes. I sold my coach in 1 day. I’ve been on the same side as you. I have sent emails and never received a reply.

If I were interested in a salvage coach I'd spend some time talking with MOT and a few other coach sales and service places to see what they can and can't work on. MOT sells quite a few Newells and services them so they might be able to do most things.

Keep in mind, salvage can be real broad. A coach may be stolen, driven a few miles and is paid off and goes to the salvage auction with nothing wrong with it. There are plenty of vehicles that have been wrecked and repaired that were hurt worse than a lot of salvage title vehicles. Newell is protecting their brand and reputation by not working on them. Coparts is brilliant, they started small and now are all over the world. If a toy has insurance, they sell it. On any given day, they have 150,000 vehicles for sale. The auctions are open to anyone with internet and a buyers card. The bids get run up because so many people are bidding and it becomes a frenzy. The fees are based on the selling price, and can add up quick. You really need to go look at an item before bidding, this the wholesale horse trader world, you win the bid, you own it. I've never had anyone ask me if my vehicle is salvage before working on it.

I understand that Newell marks their records when they become aware a coach has been issued a salvage title. One may slip past them from time to time but I believe their records are pretty good.

They also go and do forensics on them when an insurer totals one. They probably call Newell for a valuation.
