I have Coach # 145 and am going through a few things trying to get it back on the road after sitting for few years before I got it. Basically in pretty good shape. My question for this time is the leveling suspension works fine, but when I flip the switch to road suspension the leveling cuts off like it's supposed to but the road leveling doesn't come on. Where do I look first. No apparent leaks.
Thanks

When you say it doesn’t come on, can you elaborate?
For example if you use the leveling system to lower the coach all the way, and then you put it in travel mode, does the coach raise to travel height?
Take a picture of the valving or piping on the rear passenger bulkhead in the engine bay, so that we know if you have HWH style valves or MAC style valves.
Take a pic of the control system in the cockpit. That will help us guide you.
Suggest you read the first pages of this handbook to understand the principles of how the system works.

And watch these videos. Not all of it will apply to your vintage but a great deal of it will.

Thanks, I'll get more photos tomorrow when I'm back where it's parked. The previous owner told me he couldn't get the travel suspension to work so he just raised it with the leveling and rode. The only thing I have done so far is use the leveling part and see it works good, but when I flip the switch to off nothing changes. I haven't tried releasing parking brake or dumping the leveling system to the bottom.
Having trouble adding a photo of the dashboard

I tried a couple of things today. I lowered the level all the way to bottom, turned it off, released parking brake and still no travel suspension. Here is a photo of the dashboard and 2 photos of the solenoids. The set with the gauge is in the rear by engine and the other set is in the compartment under driver.
Maybe this will help.
Thanks

I will look at them more carefully when I have access to a full screen tonight. I have never seen a Newell with only three solenoids. You may not be working with the original setup

I hope someone with that vintage coach weighs in.
I have never seen a setup like that. The individual manifold setups that I am familiar with have five or six valves. I see screw holes where the other valves would have been mounted.
I have no idea how that setup works. I cannot imagine how three valves give you both leveling control and travel height control.
Unless someone comments on the setup, I am afraid you have quite a project on your hands. First read the HWH handbook that I linked. That will teach you how a pneumatic system with both leveling and height control functions.
Second, you will have to spend some time CAREFULLY diagraming the airlines, height control valves, and existing solenoid valves.
With that knowledge we can help you get the coach system to function as it should.
Using the leveling mode to raise it to height, and then driving should only be done on a temporary basis. It leaves the possibility of the coach settling on the tires during a drive. That could result in a fire or accident.

Thanks I'll try to get more information as I can get it. It confused me because all the information I can find is with the valves in the rear. I do know when I lower the rear it exhaust the air form one the valves in the engine compartment and if I lower the front it exhaust from one in the front compartment. So I assume the front set controls the front and the engine compartment set controls the rear. I can't find what controls the travel suspension. The level switch on the dashboard is only on/off, no switch the actually says travel.
Thanks
