Afternoon all,

Got myself in a bit of a pickle- alternator stopped putting out voltage pretty pretty sure its the ignition wire not providing a solid 12 volts only about 9 volts for some reason. Not a huge deal since we can just run the generator.... well the generator also decided to start acting up- pretty sure it just needs a new fuel filter....however the generator bay refuses to move out. Got good power hear the hwh pump sound off but no movement....bad power to a seliniod perhaps? Let me know your knowledge any way to manually release it?

I had a trip like that last winter, where everything wanted to quit on me. I am not much help, my generator slide is air operated. However my Wanderlodge has an hydraulic ram for the gen slide out. As you said, if the solenoid is not opening then it would not allow it to open. Is there a lock on the slide mechanism, maybe its stuck? If the solenoid is not working the hydraulic pump should sound like its struggling, its going to have to pass over the bypass valve and that should make a different sound than normal. That would be an indication of what is happening. I can tell you I had this issue and I had to disconnect the ram in order to manually pull the gen slide out, not sure if you can do this on a Newell. On the Wanderlodge it was fairly easy, pull a cotter pin and the pin in the end of the ram and I was able to pull the slide tray out. Sounds like you may have a low voltage situation that may not be helping the situation. I would suggest getting to a campground if you can and get plugged in. Then you can troubleshoot from there.
