on our trip this summer the alt/reg was putting out under 12 volts a good share of the time. i talked to steve bare and he said the same as richard, just run the genny and merge switch on and you can go forever. i did most of the trip for 6 weeks that way. mine was the regulator which i changed and all is well now.
