Ok.
In the first post you made. Go into the Edit mode. Choose Full Edit, not quick edit.
Go to the bottom in the Choose Attachment. Click on the Choose File button. That should get you into your computer. Once you choose the file, you have to click on the Add Attachment button. It will take a second for it to upload. Once it uploads you have the option of imbedding the photo in the text of the post or just leaving it at the bottom.
Going through the Gallery feature to put a picture in a forum post is an indirect approach in my opinion.
