my 90 newell had an 8v92 ddec2
newell model years seem to be 12-18 months ahead of calendar time. meaning my 2002 coach was made in early 2001 and had an engine that is probably a year older than that.
so hard to look at a 1996 newell and say it should have a recent engine as it could easily have a 1993 or 94 date coded engine.
also, they are very conservative on changing drive trains and do it slowly and cautiously.
