The vacuum pump is a very simple device. It is installed behind the solenoid that controls the opening/closing of the slide room. I think that I had posted on this subject a few months ago.
The vacuum pump is standard equipment on the newer Newells. I put 2 of them on my '99 because they assure you of not rolling a bladder due to not being fully deflated. They only cost $100 so I put one on the front slideroom as well as the rear. They work great
Newell suggested that I put one on the rear because the rear bladder was not completely deflating. It worked so well I told them to put one on the front slide.
If you call them they can give you the model number and some info on how to install one.
